I was a Witness

Can anyone guess what Nech and Greg are eating...?  Sadly, they are eating... DOG!  Amazingly, this was the one thing that Lance (our Chinese friend who ate everything) would not even try.  What does that tell you!

6 in a Taxi, Sure Why Not.

When we all finally decided it was a good idea to go back to the hostel for the night, we found it very difficult to get a taxi.  First, because every taxi has two drivers which means that at the same time every night all the drivers switch.  So, if you happen to be going towards the driver's switching point, great.  But if not, then they just keep on driving.  The second problem, was the fact that we had 6 people in our group.  Normally that would mean that we would have to take two taxis.  The problem was that there weren't two taxis to take. SO, Lance somehow convinced the one taxi driver we found, that we could in fact all fit in one taxi.  And so we did.  Christine and I were in the front, and the four guys: Lance, Greg, Nech, and Maarten, were in the back.  Ah, China.

The Scenery of Guilin = Beautiful!

The peaks and mountains here are gorgeous!  The one picture of the mountain with the hole in it is of the "Elephant Peak".

Some Cool Caves...

It seems that everywhere we went there were caves (with some interesting lighting).  The last picture was of a part of the cave where you almost felt like you were suspended in the air and below you there was a pit with rocks at the bottom.  But, it was actually water reflecting the hanging rocks from the ceiling of the cave.  It gave a me a really strange sensation!

Tobogganing down the mountain is fun!

After tobogganing at the Great Wall, I never thought I would be able to do to it again.  But, look, here in Guilin I was able to do it again. Yeah!

Our First Day in Guilin

The last pictures are of the desks where potential government officials would take their 3-day exams.  Apparently, they couldn't leave their little cubicles for the entire time of the test.  We were given a sample exams ourselves... I didn't do that well considering I couldn't even read the test...

Our Home in Guilin...

Amazingly this place has internet! Tonight we have a Japanese guy in our room as well.  Apparently he is leaving tomorrow though.
