Trekking Along in an ATV

The ponchos were too hot so we took them off. But, when Michael tried a few tricks on his ATV, he got a bit muddy... And, I almost tipped over on a rock, so my shoes got muddy... The trek was so much fun though!

Out About in the Town

It seemed that whenever the two of us introduced ourselves, we were always asked where we were from.  Michael, who goes to UPenn with me, has dual-citizenship with the US and Portugal but lived in Portugal his whole life. So he always said that he was from Portugal.  And, though no one in Thailand ever knew where Portugal was or that it was even a country, all Michael had to do to make a connection was to mention names of the famous soccer players of Portugal and somehow those he named were known by everyone.  Soccer truly is the world's most popular sport!  Michael also got the chance to test his own soccer abilities with some of the locals from the island of Phuket.

I also tried to feed the birds.  At first I just threw out the food on to the ground.  But then I wanted to see what would happen if I held out my hand with the food in it.  When I did, I felt like I was in the movie "The Birds".  They were crazy!

Though it was a little cloudy, it never rained and the temperature of the water was fantastic.  Ahh, what a wonderful day at the beach it was...
